Westphalia Waltz (also known as “Pytala Sie Pani","Wszystkie Rybki”) (Originally from Poland, old-time/Bluegrass/Canada). While Westphalia is attributed to fiddler Cotton Collins, the tune was originally from Poland! It is widely played today. We could play the tune using I, IV, V. That works just fine. However, and I know this may come as a shock to you, but we will venture well beyond I, IV, V! This is a fabulous tune for exploring the ”chord palette” with a wealth of harmonization possibilities to include the relative minor, secondary dominants, diminished 7ths, and more. If you don’t know what all that means, no worries. I walk you through. Includes hammering and a phrase breakdown for the melody, a detailed discussion of the chord progression, an intro, a basic arrangement, a more adventurous arrangement, a backup, and practice tracks.
