Red Apple Rag (Traditional, U.S.)

0 ratings

This is a well-worn rag that offers us a great opportunity to explore the three primary characteristics of a rag: syncopation, chromatics and circle of fifths chord movement. The main take home is how to successfully execute syncopation. I also discuss how the chords follow a standard I IV V progression (G, C, D) with a characteristic V of V (an A7 chord) near the end of each section. Most players will be challenged by the variations!
