The Panhandle (Ken Kolodner)

I wrote this three-part “fiddle tune” after a particularly memorable experience while on tour traveling through the Texas Panhandle. Ask me to tell you the story! I recorded The Panhandle on Walking Stones (1997, reissued in 2006). My approach in teaching this piece is to get us to “see” the chord progression in the melody right from the start. We cover the principle of left-hand lead, several approaches to backup, a harmony backup, multiple arranging ideas, and variations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91BLn02FBjg
