I first heard this lovely composition by fiddler Manus McGuire many years ago on a Buttons & Bows recording. To understand the piece, we work through a discussion of the chord progression which features several secondary dominants plus a diminished 7th chord. From there, we work on the melody, hammering, a basic arrangement, additional arranging ideas (e.g., rolled chords, bass lines, valley rolls, arpeggio fills), and an accompaniment. It will be well worth the journey! Here is a recording featuring Buttons & Bows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im0KMhDVwQ8
