My son (Bradley or, as he now calls himself, Brad) had been playing the banjo six months when he wrote this unusual and very challenging tune. He didn’t really know the “rules” of composition (whatever they are) and just went with what sounded good to him. Be prepared for some surprises! This piece is ideal for (1) demonstrating how I improvise, starting with the melody, learning the chord progression, starting with arpeggios and a wide variety of ideas from our tool chest; and (2) to get us in an area of the HD that many of us avoid. It seems like I use nearly every note on the HD. It is really fun to play this beast! Try those variations!! And backup! Recorded on Otter Creek (2011). Otter Creek hit the top of the folk charts in 2011 as an instrumental recording.
